Ed Alstrom

BIO: Ed Alstrom grew up in and still lives in New Jersey. Started playing organ (the family Hammond M-3) at age 5, guitar and bass as a teenager. Attended Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ to become a church musician, escaped with a B.M. in Organ Performance despite playing in lounges nearly every night, and then took many hard lefts into every other type of music.

HIGHLIGHTS: Alstrom has performed with Bette Midler, Chuck Berry, Leonard Bernstein, Herbie Hancock, Eddie Fisher, Odetta, Dion, Larry Coryell, Blood Sweat and Tears, Darlene Love, Ronnie Spector, Lou Rawls, Zubin Mehta, Donald Fagan, John Sebastian, Hubert Sumlin, Uncle Floyd, Peter Noone, Levon Helm, Al Kooper, Stanley Jordan, Eddie Brigati, Steven Van Zandt, Ben E. King, Rick Derringer, Melanie, Jimmy Vivino, and many other notables. His Broadway experience includes a stint as Interim Associate Conductor on 'Hairspray', where he subbed the Key 2 chair regularly.
Alstrom realized a childhood dream in 2004 when he was asked to be the weekend (Sat/Sun) Organist at YANKEE STADIUM, where he fills the seat at the mighty Hammond Elegante formerly occupied by the great Eddie Layton. He continues that gig to this day. And he is now … a bluesman!

AND THEY’RE SAYING:
When I choose to feature an album, I listen to the entire thing in headphones, examining production along with art.  After 35 years on radio, it's still a joy.  But much more so when it's a release like Ed  Alstrom’s, loaded with surprising content and very individualistic tendencies in a genre drowning in imitation. I hope Ed Alstrom's work gets the attention it deserves.  It has secured mine.-  Dave Gallagher, Talkin' the Blues with Microwave Dave, WLRH FM / WJAB FM / WUTC FM
